Welcome to my countdown of the 10-scariest Urban Legends of all time. We are doing this in honor of Halloween month, so grab a blanket and gather ‘round the campfire because it’s about to get really scary!
Today, I will share #1 and in my mind, none of the others even comes close! So take a shot of courage and read on, if you dare!!!
#1: The Licked Hand!
Little Lisa was left alone regularly as her parents worked late. They bought her a dog to keep her company.
One night Lisa was awakened by a constant dripping sound. She got up and went to the kitchen to turn off the tap properly. As she was getting back into the bed she stuck her hand under the bed and the dog licked it.
The dripping sound continued, so she went to the bathroom and made sure the tap was turned off there, too. She went back to her bedroom and stuck her hand under the bed and the dog licked it again.
But the dripping continued, so she went outside and turned off all the faucets out there. She came back to bed, stuck her hand under it, and the dog licked it again.
The dripping continued, drip, drip, drip. This time she listened and located the source of the dripping … it was coming from her closet. She opened the closet door, and there was her dog hanging upside down with its neck cut, and written on the window on the inside of the cupboard was, “Humans can lick, too!!!”
Comment: Okay, if that doesn’t give you the creeps, then I give up!!! Most of us at some point in our youth had a phobia about a monster under the bed. Tales like this prey on that fear and, for just a moment, makes you want to check under the bed one last time to make sure nothing is hiding under there! YIKES!
Tomorrow, I’d like to share a “Special Category” Urban Legend, one very appropriate and meaningful in today’s society. Read with caution!

Nope, sure didn’t. But after the Dark Shadows movie I was scared of my closet door and what lurked behind it.
Actually, I always thought something was at my window looking in. But most all of my friends were convinced that a monster was under their bed. It seems to be the most common “phobia” out there!
