06 – Let Man Put Asunder
Was this page hard to see and read? It was certainly hard for me to write. Oscar Gwynne is an evil man, and sadly, monsters like him are all too common in the “real” world. Still, is this the type of case that would attract a man like Deacon Void, or will he simply refer Anne to the local authorities? We’ll see very soon. Perhaps there is more going on here that we are yet aware.

Domestic violence is a real “monster” in our world. One thing I enjoy about writing fiction is that I can portray it for what it is and make it alright in the end. Thanks for writing, Tisa, and God bless you.
Domestic violence is an unnecessary evil we hope never visits close to us. Extremely sad photo and story. This abuse is visible, mental/verbal abuse is invisible and crippling scars are harder to impossible to heal. We should always be ready to support and take a stand, it will be overcome. I know your story Bill will bring sweet satisfaction.
Well said, Eva. Let’s just say that you won’t want to be Oscar when it’s time to pay the piper. But again, in the world of Void, there are always surprises lurking about!
Of all the calls I’ve taken, I hated responding to domestic violence calls. The person who finds a quick, less painful way to allow these battered women to completely make the break from their abusive husbands is going to save a lot of misery, and lives.
I can only imagine, Tom. I chose this opening for VOID because I wanted readers to see that even though this story is told for fun and entertainment, I intend to tackle some tough and emotional issues. I want people to read it and think about it, not just discard it as fluff. While it’s fantasy, I want people to see it as grounded in reality. Thanks for your comment. And the person you mentioned to end the misery? Void is your man!
