06/08: Prologue: ENTER … The VOID!
I always felt that brothers in crime made for good villains. Frank & Jesse James, the Youngers, the Kray twins, the Clanton Gang, etc are all well-known brothers who terrorized society. In the 70s, I was a fan of the Mack Bolan: The Executioner paperback series written by Don Pendleton.
This paperback novel series is STILL going strong today (35+ years) and inspired a slew of “Man vs. the Mafia” books in the 70s. It also inspired the Marvel Comics character, The Punisher (three films starring Dolph Lundgren, Tom Jane, and Ray Stevenson in the lead).
As Vietnam hero Mack Bolan returned home to wage his war against the Mafia, la Cosa Nostra sent a pair of assassins, “The Taliferro Brothers,” to hunt him down. They became Bolan’s #1 enemy. (I guess I need to do a blog on Mack Bolan soon)!
The Taliferro Brothers from Pendleton’s books, along with other “real-life” brothers in crime, are the inspiration for the Ashcrofts and a brother/sister duo to be introduced later in the series!
Coming Next: Fury of the Azif!
